Venue, Lodging and Travel to Bucharest

The 11th edition of the European Conference on Severe Storms will take place in the very centre of Bucharest in the National Statistics Institute (Institutul Național de Statistică, Bulevardul Libertății 16, București 030167).

Many historic buildings have been renovated in recents years. The city presents itself as a friendly town influenced by different architectural styles over the centuries.

Depending on your preferences and budget you can in choose from a wide selection of hotels and other accomodation types, as Bucharest is a main tourist and business destination. “Special Conference Offers” quite frequently turn out to be fake. Therefore we refrain from such a list and kindly ask you to book via your preferred booking portal or directly with the hotel of your choice, which may be even better.

Bucharest can be reached by plane, bus, train and car. The Henri Coanda International Airport (OTP / LROP) is located in Otopeni, some 16 km north of the centre of Bucharest. For many hotels close to the city centre the direct bus line 783 (towards “Unirii”, a square next to the old town of Bucharest) might be a good choice. It already offers nice views on the large parks and green areas of the city and on some of the main sights, like the large triumph arch. Single and multi-day bus tickets can be bought by cards directly at the bus stop located on the ground floor of the airport arrival area (follow postsigns towards public buses near the exit).
